At North Country Builders, we fully embrace the old adage,”home is where the heart is”. Your home is where you spend a great deal of your time, and we understand your home is your most valuable asset. With over 20 years experience, North Country Builders is ready to assist you in the homebuilding process.
PLANS
You can either bring plans to us or choose from some of our plans. If you do not have a lot to build on, we can assist you in finding one. This is the time to go over all the features you would like to see in your home as well as any design changes you would like to make to your plans. We will then need to determine expected energy ratings along with financing options.
CONTRACT
North Country Builders of Alaska will conduct a Site Feasibility Assessment for your project, identifying important criteria related to your lot and the necessary steps to complete the Land Use Permit process. After this, we will present you with a building contract to accept and sign.
PRODUCT SELECTION
A member of our team will meet with you to go over the process of selecting the products and colors for your new home. We will also go over the schedule of construction and time frame for picking out the features of your new home.
EXCAVATION
Once the Land Use permit is ready, we will meet with you and begin the excavation process. This will include house and driveway placement on lot. We will also walk the lot with you and decide which trees and natural features of the lot you would like to keep or change.
CONSTRUCTION
Once excavation is complete, we will begin building your home. After the foundation is poured, our excavator will need to return to backfill around the foundation. After the backfill is complete, we will begin framing your home.
WALK-THROUGH
After framing is complete and just prior to beginning the electrical rough-in at your home, we will request that you attend an electrical walk-through at your site to finalize switch, plug, and lighting locations, and discuss any special concerns you might have.
FINAL STEPS
Construction continues on your home. Drywall is hung and the interior selections you made will begin to take shape. At this point, we will complete the final grade. We will be available to answer your questions during this process. Your home will proceed through a number of inspections. You will need to make sure that all final site preparations are taken care of during this process. Once we are finished, we will proceed to final inspection.
CLOSING
We will do a final walk through with you after the final cleaning has been done in order to address any concerns you have related to your new home. We’ll also review with you the many systems that your home includes and go over critical maintenance items. After we’ve addressed any concerns you have, you are free to move into your new home.
WARRANTY
After you move in, North Country Builders of Alaska will continue to work with you. We would like to meet with you again after 30 days to go over any questions you may have. If at anytime prior to that you need to speak to us, we will be available to you.
